Featured: Spring Cleaning Tips and Tricks!

The tradition of spring cleaning dates back a long time. The origin of spring cleaning was believed to start as an ancient Jewish practice preparing for the springtime feast of passover. These days much of spring cleaning is preparing for all the summer parties, getting our closets ready for all the new exciting fashion trends of summer and the coming fall, and rediscovering last springs favorites! Minneapolis blogger and fashionista behind the inspirational blog, My Life Caffeinated, shares her tips and tricks to spring cleaning.

Kristin's first order of business when spring cleaning is sorting through the clothes in her closet. She suggests figuring out what items are definite keepers, not quite sure, and the items to donate/toss. Obviously all the keepers go back in your closet for wearing later, but the "not quite sure" pile of clothes really think about those items before donating or tossing. Do you remember wearing the clothing item, what outfits does it go with, do you need an updated version, and so on. Once decisions have been made and the donate/toss pile is complete, Kristin's next step makes spring cleaning even better and is a little trick to motivate and make spring cleaning fun!

Clothes swap! Spring cleaning is even better with friends and a glass of wine! Gather all of your friends, get a couple bottles of wine and some snacks, and make an evening of it! Swap some clothes, do a little fashion show, and go home with some new items for your spring style!

Finally once all your items have been either kept, swapped, or thrown out (because of too much wear, rips, etc.) make sure to donate all your newly unwanted items to the local Goodwill or other clothing recycling businesses. Someone is always in need of clothes. For more on spring cleaning and other awesome ideas as well as places to visit in Minneapolis, visit Kristin's My Life Caffeinated Blog! Happy cleaning!
